Christene Grace, 86, of the Fairview Community went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2017, after a long journey with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born Oct. 26, 1930, in Fairview Community (Saline Co.), Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Bea Beatrice Baxley Pruett; her husband of 46 years, J.T. Grace; her brother, Lonnie Pruett; and a great-grandson, Spencer Wayne Watts. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy McCormick Jackson of Benton and Cindy Thyer (Chris) of Jonesboro; her son, Billy Wayne Grace (Pat) of the Fairview Community; one sister, Bonnie Gilmore Morris (Ralph); one brother, Terry Lewayne Pruett (Rita) both of the Fairview Community; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Pruett, of Lockport, La. She is also survived by grandchildren, Clint McCormick, Chad (Dee) McCormick, Jason (Tricia) Brazil, John Grace, Kelly Grace Watts, Jack Thyer, and Will Thyer; and great-grandchildren, Tyler McCormick, Olivia Harper, Landon McCormick, Dax McCormick, Avi McCormick, Justin Watts, Alyssa Watts, and Grant Brazil. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Christene graduated as valedictorian from East End High School in 1948. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed the many friends she made through her work with the Shaklee Corporation and with Dillard's. After J.T.'s death, she treasured the memories she made with her travel companions, Billie Henry, Juanita Samples, Toby Carter (deceased), and Peggy Butler. She was a faithful lifelong member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. Her life was a testament to her faith in the many acts of kindness and compassion she showed to so many people throughout the years. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 4, beginning 6–8 p.m. at Ashby's. The service will be on Wednesday, April 5, at 1 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home, 108 W. Narroway Street in Benton, Ark. Pallbearers are Eddie Cole, Thurman Harrell, Clinton McGinley, Garry McCormick, Ben Potter and Al Wise. Interment will follow at McPherson Cemetery in Sardis.
