Jack L. Macy

Jack L. Macy, 86, of Mahomet, IL, formerly of Bella Vista, AR, passed away March 24, 2017 at The Glenwood Assisted Living Center in Mahomet. Jack was born March 28, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa to Marjorie and Walter Macy. He married Jeannine McCauley on November 4, 1950 in Van Meter, Iowa. She survives in Mahomet. He was preceded in death by his father and brother. Also surviving are his mother, Marjorie Wallace of Clive, Iowa; three daughters, Sue (Craig) Perry of Eclectic, AL, Sandra (Jeff) Alsop of Urbana, IL, Sheila Berner of Ramon, CA; one son, Scott (Laura) Macy of Bayfield, CO; five grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Rhodes, Kaylie (Clinton) Alsop, Preston Roehrs, Megan Roehrs and Julia Munoz; three great-grandchildren, Kahle, Jackson and Liyana and several 'bonus' grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Lockheed-Martin where he was employed for 30 years. After retirement, he moved to Bella Vista, AR, where he built their home and then later a bi-wing airplane. He was a member of the Highlands Methodist Church where he was Lay Speaker and made announcements and introduced visitors for 19 years. He was a member of the Arkansas Air Museum and a member of the EAA, having taken more than 100 kids on their first flight for the Young Eagles Program. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen Club. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Highlands Methodist Church in Bella Vista, AR at 10 a.m. on May 6, 2017. Memorial contributions may be made to Highlands Methodist Church, Hospice or EAA.
