Edith D. Miller, age 85, of Benton, left us for her heavenly home on Monday, April 10. She was born in Benton Sept. 5, 1931 to Garland Pelton and Annie Lee (Leedie) Collins Pelton. She graduated from Benton High and worked for Gus Blass Co in Little Rock. Edith was a uniquely talented lady and her husband, Don was a willing partner in all her endeavors. She began a cake decorating business and made many birthday and wedding cakes for Saline County residents. Many were blessed by her servant's heart with homemade dumplings, fruit cobblers, cheese dip, chocolate covered strawberries, turtles and peanut brittle. Edith was also a great biblical teacher and organizer who volunteered many hours in church work at Oak Grove, Holland Chapel and Spring Creek. She and Don loved to travel and spent many happy hours planning car trips to all areas of the US and also visited Europe, Hawaii, Canada and Alaska. They shared this love with family members and special friends, the Merricks and called themselves the M&M's. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Don Pelton and a sister Fern Burruss and two brothers-in-law, Alvin Burrus and Bill Orrick. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, William Don Miller; son, Dennis Miller and wife Rebecca; daughter, Janis Zylma and husband John; granddaughter, Sarah Clayton; grandson, Johnathan Zylma; two great-grands, Brayden and Valeri Clayton; brother, Wayne Pelton (Betty); two sisters, Janie Orrick Molock (Bob) and Joan Mills (Dick) and an abundance of family and friends who loved her dearly. Family Comments: The family would also like to thank Nellie Keesee for her loving care and support. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 14 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Lee Cemetery. Bro. Terry Parrish and Bro. Scott Patton will be officiating.
