Bruce Anthony Claude Cararas, 83, of Bentonville died April 12. He was born December 4, 1933 in New Orleans, La. He moved to Bentonville, Ark. in 1977. He worked for Walmart, and after retirement, he volunteered at Helping Hands. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps during the Korean War and earned the title of Buck Sergeant. Bruce was the recipient of numerous awards including The President's Volunteer Service Gold Award, given to him by President George W. Bush, the Governor's Volunteer Excellence Award from Governor Mike Huckabee, many awards from Helping Hands and from donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Benton County. He is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Norma Lee Cararas, daughter, Merrilee Jean Spradling and daughter, Terri Lane Helt. He is survived by his daughter, Sherryl Munden, four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was not only an asset to the community in which he lived, but a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
