Melba "Granny" Holcomb

Melba "Granny" Holcomb, 90, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Holcomb was born September 24, 1926 in Lawrence County, to Claud and Hattie Bell Greer. She was reared and received her education in Lawrence and Greene Counties. She had lived in Michigan, Missouri and Arkansas with her husband Billy Joe Holcomb, who was a minister. They moved back to Pine Bluff in 1975. She was a devoted pastor's wife, a very talented musician, who sang and played a variety of musical instruments, and a Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Holcomb was a born again Christian and a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Bill W. (Brenda) Holcomb of Heber Springs, Mike R. (Dee) Holcomb, Terry G. (Brenda) Holcomb, and Danny J. (Karen) Holcomb, all of Pine Buff; daughter-in-law, Beth Holcomb of White Hall; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; sister, Freda Schleicher of Rochester Hill, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reverend Bill J. Holcomb who died in 1990; son, Tommy Gale Holcomb; daughters-in-law, Patsy Armstrong Holcomb and Karen Duncan Holcomb; nine brothers and two sisters. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 15, 2017, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 2017, 11 a.m., at Watson Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery.
