Barbara Gean Hudgens Swaim, 77, of England, passed away on April 17, 2017, in Little Rock. She was born April 19, 1939, to William Adelbert and Mary Kathleen Gean Hudgens, in Memphis, Tennessee. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Edward. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Edward and Anna Swaim of Little Rock, Christian and Kimberly Swaim of Fort Smith, and Matthew Swaim, of Little Rock; her beloved grandchildren James Philip, John Edward, William Connor, Allie Elizabeth, Joseph Thomas, Kaitlin Elizabeth and Andrew Carson. She is also survived by her brother, William A. Hudgens II. The family would like to say a special thank you to Barbara's cousin, Sandra Barringer for her help and companionship. She leaves behind a host of dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends to cherish her memory. Barbara lived in Halls, Tennessee, and West Memphis, before moving to Humnoke, where she graduated from high school in 1957. She married James Ed Swaim in 1964 and moved to England, where they lived and raised their three sons. She did a variety of things to make opportunities for her sons, including serving as a Cub Scout den mother. In the 1970s, she used her creative talents to make and sell items at craft shows all over the South. Over the years, she worked at the John Deere dealership, Helena Chemical Company, England First United Methodist Church and the Arkansas Department of Health. In retirement, she enjoyed many adventures with her friends, from road trips to different restaurants to sneaking corn from the fields around England only to find out that it is not good to eat. Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Roller-England Funeral Home, 202 Stuttgart Highway, England, Arkansas 72046, (501) 842-3939. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at Roller-England Funeral Home, with burial following at Mulberry Cemetery in England. Honorary pallbearers are nephews, Jay Holland, Tom Ramsey, Dennis Ramsey, William Ramsey, Josh Hudgens and Devon Hudgens.
