Marvin Eugene Fairchild, 92, of Rogers passed away April 18, 2017 at Hospice Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born March 17, 1925 in Camago, Oklahoma to the late Alma Adell and Tommy Fairchild. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 69 years Loretta Fairchild, three siblings, and his son, James E. Fairchild. Survivors include a son, Ron Fairchild (Jane) of Oklahoma City, four daughters: Kathryn Fairchild of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Janice Allmendinger (David) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Nancy Quinn (Jim) of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Sheila Houk (Bruce) of Garfield, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. After serving his country as a Navy Seabee during WWII in the Philippine Islands, Marvin graduated Oklahoma State University with a degree in Animal Husbandry and a minor in Radio Broadcasting, and was Past President of AGR fraternity. In 1958 Marvin, Loretta, and their children moved from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Rogers, Arkansas. where he was co owner of Northwest Meat Packing Co. Marvin and Loretta were active members in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and school. Marvin was a Board Member and President of many Rogers' community and civic organizations and helped define civil leadership in the Rogers' community and SVDP: Past President, Faithful Navigator, and original member of the Knights of Columbus; Marvin spent several years hosting the KDUA Catholic radio program and interviewing persons within the Arkansas diocese providing positive Catholic examples influencing and encouraging many. Through Marvin's work with young people at the Boys' Club Ranch in Winslow, Horses for Healing, 4-H and starting the first Junior Livestock Show (which is still in effect today), Marvin has forever touched the lives of many. Visitation will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Rosary from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 306 N. 4th St. Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Funeral Mass will be at St. Vincent de Paul in Rogers, Friday, April 21 at noon. Interment will follow in the St. Vincent Cemetery, Avoca, Arkansas.
