The sweet, kind soul of Ruthann Varner Allison, 81, went to be with Our Lord, at sunrise Easter morning, April 16. She was born, Nov 16, 1935 to the late William Varner and Annie Styles White in Hickory Ridge, Ark. She is survived by her loving family: husband Ken Allison Sr., daughters Karen Light and Lei Pinter and stepson Ken Allison Jr (Adriene). Grandchildren Meagan Light, David Light, Chad Pinter, Eric Pinter, Kenneth Allison III (Trey), Bailey Anne Allison and great-grandson, Brody Ross Atkinson. Ruthann graduated from Southern Arkansas University in 1954. She had a long career at Dillard's Department Store in cosmetics. One of her many passions were flowers and she was a Master Flower Show Judge, member of the Garden Club and Designer Garden Club. She loved her church, Saint James United Methodist. She loved to dance and was an accomplished ballroom dancer. She designed elegant and unique table settings with flowers, crystal and linens. She was also a talented artist and her oil paintings hang in many friends and family's homes as special mementos. Ruthann married the love of her life, Ken Allison Sr., in 2000 and what a storybook romance they had for 17 years! Their love of each other was an example for all. After entering a nursing home, Ken Sr. never missed a day visiting Ruthann for lunch and delivering her daily Coke Zero. They spent several years in Greer's Ferry entertaining friends and family until they moved to Little Rock in 2005. Ken and Ruthann loved going to auctions and she helped Ken in the Lake Water Sports business. The only other man in her life was her beloved poodle Buddy (the smartest and most spoiled dog on the planet). A Memorial Celebration will be held at Saint James United Methodist Church on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. with a reception at the church to follow. Ruthann loved her flowers and an honorarium to the Little Rock Garden Club would be much appreciated. Services entrusted to Gunn Funeral Home, 4323 W 29th, Little Rock, Ark. 72204, (501) 660-4323.
