Alvin Vernon Williams, 84 of Jacksonville, passed away April 12, 2017 with his beloved wife by his side. He was born to Albert and Flossie Williams, of Hampton, Arkansas, on August 29, 1932 in Harrell, Arkansas. He served in the US Air Force for 27 years and he was also a Vietnam Veteran. He traveled the world during his military career. He was a lifelong brother in the Masonic Fraternity and also a Scimitar Shriner who traveled extensively to children's hospitals. He loved spending time outdoors, fishing and gardening whenever he could. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Blondell Gates and Margie Wright. He is survived by his wife, Theresa "Tess" Williams; children, Alvin V. Williams, Jr. and Nom Williams, wife, Sandra D. Williams, and Mark D. Williams; grandchildren, Chris Williams, Nicky Williams, and Tawan Williams; four great grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Waller; five nieces; and two nephews. Funeral service will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
