Charles Edward Dickey, 84, of Bentonville, Arkansas passed away April 22, 2017. He was born in Bentonville to Edward and Agnes Vinson Dickey on March 8, 1933. Charles attended primary and secondary schools in Bentonville, and Springfield, Missouri; he served in the United States Army as a Radar Specialist during the Korean conflict and afterwards attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Mr. Dickey processed remarkable intelligence and had an aptitude for problem solving. He was a skilled carpenter, machinist and knife maker. Charles spent many years working as an accountant for Bentonville Casting Company and Daisy Manufacturing. He retired from Walmart PMDC in 1994. Charles enjoyed good health most of his life, and his waking hours were spent in business, whether at work, around the house, or on one of his many diverse hobbies and interests. He searched for the found arrowheads, kept bees, liked to hunt and was a fisherman. Charles did not attend church regularly, but had very high ideals. He had great empathy for both man and beast and was known to come to blows over the mistreatment of an animal. He impressed upon his children a clear sense of right and wrong and showed through example the power of resolve. Mr. Dickey is survived by his wife of 61 years, Leonora Rose Brower Dickey of the home; son Carl Dickey, and wife Pamela of Brown Summit, North Carolina; son Stephen Dickey of Bentonville; grandchildren Brandy Dickey and Charles Dickey of Brown Summit, N.C. of Bentonville, respectively; sister Peggy Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma cousins, nephews and nieces. Visitation in at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers on Thursday, April 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be at Bentonville Cemetery on Friday; April 28 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorial donations be made to charities of the donor's choice.
