Ret. Colonel Stanley Joseph Manning Jr. of Jacksonville passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017. He was born on June 27, 1934 in DeKalb, Illinois, the first of three children born to the late Margaret and Stanley J. Manning, Sr. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia M. Green and son-in-law, Robert Craton. Stan was an avid Cubs fan and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother that anyone could have asked for! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Stan is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alberta Manning; children, Stanley (Debbie) Manning; Fred (Kathy) Manning; Laura (Steve) Sanden; Todd Manning; and sister, Cissy Gallagher; 10 grandchildren, 12 great -grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves his beloved fur babies, Pepper and BJ. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 5 - 7 p.m. followed by a rosary at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Jacksonville, Ark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Jacksonville Animal Shelter.
