Jean Lillian Melton

Jean Lillian Melton, 81, of Benton went to be with our Lord on Monday July 31, 2017. Jean was born on November 20th, 1935 to the late Emmett and Lois (Linson) Smith in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas. Jean was a devoted wife, mother and Grandmother and loved and cherished her family. She was also a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Jean was always a hard worker and retired from the Mini Mart after 20 years. Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 60-years, Fred Drew Melton; her granddaughter, Drew Nicole Melton and two brothers: Emmett Smith Jr. and Robert Smith and one sister: Wilma Parks. She is survived by her two children; son, Fred "Ted" Melton Jr. of Benton and daughter; Kelly Stewart and husband Scott of Benton; three beautiful grandchildren: Samantha Melton of Benton, Katie Mitchell and husband Charlie of Charlotte, N.C., Danny Stewart of Benton and one sister: Joyce Tindall of Benton. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Smith- Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Service will be held on Thursday at Smith-Benton Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. with burial following at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock with Rev. Roger Glover officiating.
