James Withers

Rev. James L. Withers transitioned from "7700 Woodson Lateral Road" to his eternal home on August 1, 2017 at the age of 102 years. He was born on May 22, 1915 and his ambition, life experiences, and zest for living was inspirational to all that knew him. He was known throughout the state of Arkansas as a servant of God and pastor at several churches during the past 60 years. He retired from Block Realty Co. in 1977, and was a self-employed farmer for many years following retirement. Rev. Withers is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Ruby Tippens Withers; his parents, George and Annie Withers; siblings, Lewis Withers, Lacy Taylor, and Marie Crawford; two grandsons; one great grandson, and one great-granddaughter. His memory and legacy will live on through his children, Emma Burton, Hensley, Ark.; Vernon and Eunice Withers, Woodson, Ark.; Mayola and Willie Luster, Pahrump, NV; and Ruby Allen, Little Rock, Ark. He is also fondly remembered by 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, two great-great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral will be Saturday August 5, 2017, 12 noon First Baptist Church Woodson. Family hour 6 til 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Services are entrusted to Premier Funeral Home, 1518 S.
