Joel Edward Williams, 64, of Royal, Ark., passed away Wednesday Aug. 2nd, 2017. He was born Oct. 23, 1952 in Elkhart, Ind., to Ted and Mary Williams. He is preceded in death by his father Ted Williams and a sister Janet Williams. He is survived by his four sons, Matthew (Cari) Williams of Jacksonville, Michael (Crystal) Williams of Rogers, Charles Poe of Hot Springs, Richard Williams of Royal; grandchildren Jake and Mikki Williams of Jacksonville; mother, Mary Williams; siblings, Tom (Mary) Williams of Elkhart, Ind., Janice (Doug) Williams-Mattix of Elkhart, Jim Williams of Breese, Ill.; many nieces and nephews whom he loved. Joel graduated Elkhart Central high school in 1971, moved to Arkansas from Grand Rapids Michigan in 1983, and has worked for Composites One for the last 30 years. Great fathers like Joel Williams are adventurers and memory makers. Often sacrificing the comforts of home to build a better life for his family, he worked toward ever evolving goals. Crafter of family traditions, Joel will always be remembered as the one who brought everyone together; for family gatherings, to the lake or Chicago to watch the Cubs play. Unlike any other, his presence was the spirit of camaraderie. Being the man that he was, he instilled many life lessons, including the value of family on all his sons and grandchildren. Simply put, no one could deny his charisma or his love for the people in his life. Great men like Joel Williams lived life to the fullest. On to his last great adventure, he will be missed by us all. A Celebration of Joel's Life will be held at Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs, Ark., on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m., burial will be at Morning Star Cemetery immediately following.
