Howard R. Berens of Rogers, Arkansas went to be with the Lord August 14, 2017 at his home in Rogers. Howard loved his family and was well loved in return. He brought laughter to every room and always had a twinkle in his eye. He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to anyone. He was born November 10, 1938 in Spencer, Nebraska to Nick J. Berens and Jessie (Harris) Berens. He served with pride in the U.S. Navy, mostly in the West Pacific. He received an honorable discharge as an (E-5) 2nd class Petty Officer. He called it a 4-year vacation. Howard moved to N.W. Arkansas in 1983 from Omaha, Nebraska. He commented often "what a beautiful area to live in." Howard retired from RTW in April 2002. He served as a greeter at the Rogers First Baptist and enjoyed it immensely. Howard loved to travel and boasted of having been to all 50 states, nine countries in Europe, Panama, Bahamas and of course Mexico and Canada. (Can't leave out West Pac as well). He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Jessie Berens, and his brother, William "Bill" Berens. Survivors include his wife of almost 56 years, the love of his life Willamena (Willie) Berens, his son, Scott Berens and wife Sandy of Rogers; his daughter, Tricia Johnson and husband "Dub" (R.W.) Johnson of Lafayette; Ind., six wonderful grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Ramona Berens of Bellevue, Neb. and sister-in-law, Sandi Berens of Ellendale, N.D.
