Kevin Francis Derden, 51, of Little Rock peacefully passed into eternal life on August 10, 2017. Kevin was born on January 9, 1966, the second child of Francis and Marie Derden. Kevin was born and proud to have been raised in Sherrill, Arkansas. Growing up in a rural community, he and his beloved sister, Kim, spent most of their time outdoors. Kevin developed a love for riding dirt bikes that evolved into a lifelong hobby and passion for Harley Davidsons. After proudly graduating high school from England Academy in 1984, Kevin attended college at the University of Central Arkansas. Kevin found his niche at UCA as a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. As a member of the fraternity, Kevin not only cultivated life-long friendships, but also his natural talent for hospitality. Kevin met his love and match, Janie Prislovsky, in the late 1980's. The pair was married in 1992 in her hometown of Stuttgart and made their home in Little Rock. The couple enjoyed countless adventures over their 25 years of marriage, the greatest of which beginning in September of 1994 with the birth of their daughter, Madison. Kevin's passion for fatherhood was nothing short of radiant, and his love for his daughter was unconditional. Kevin's compassion was not only reflected through his role as a husband and father, but also as a businessman. Kevin opened KD Sales in Sherrill, AR in 1988. Kevin's gift for facilitating friendships and natural inclusive attitude has since grown the earth moving equipment manufacturer into an international operation. Though proud to have been connected across the world, Kevin was more proud to have kept the business based at home in Sherrill. Above all, Kevin was an incredible family man and a fierce friend. Kevin's generosity was a marvel to be admired, and his love was constantly outpouring. The ultimate host, Kevin enjoyed nothing more than cooking for a house-full of Madison's friends or preparing food for the masses at the next Razorback tailgate. He treated all of his friends like family and strangers like life-long friends. His genuine love and fervor for life will be missed every day by so many. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Derden and Mr. and Mrs. Grover Gibbs and by his father-in-law, James Prislovsky Sr. He is survived by his wife, Janie Prislovsky Derden; daughter, Madison Derden; extra daughter, Joanna Fureigh; parents, Francis "Sonny" and Marie Derden; sister, Kimberly Derden Cole; beloved nieces, Mackenzie and Marley Cole; special cousin, Karen "Chickie" Prislovsky; mother-in-law, Floy Prislovsky, as well as, host of extended family and friends.
