Mary Ann Ruth Lasater, 92, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 18, 2017 at the Circle of Life Legacy Village Hospice in Bentonville with her family by her side. She was born on January 25, 1925, in Rogers to Pearl Irene Deason Murphy and Thomas O'Connell (TOC) Murphy. For the past two years, Mary Ann resided with her daughter Janice in Bella Vista, Ark. Raised on her family's apple orchard between Rogers and Bentonville, Mary Ann graduated from Bentonville High School in 1943. Afterward, she moved to California to live with her older sisters and for a time she was a "Rosie the Riveter". After a few years, Mary Ann returned home to Benton County. On January 25th, 1947, Mary Ann married Joe H. Lasater in the Centerton Methodist Church with Reverend Catherine Ferrill, officiating. The Lasater's settled in Pea Ridge and remained there during their 68 years of marriage. Mary Ann and Joe were charter members of the Pea Ridge Free Will Baptist Church where she served as secretary/treasurer for over 30 years, while Joe served as a deacon. Years later they joined the Oakley Chapel United Methodist Church in Rogers where Mary Ann had attended while growing up. Throughout her life she worked at several local industries but she excelled in her role as a nurse's aide, care giver and volunteer. In her late seventies, she and Joe revived their love of dancing and could be found most Saturday nights at Snow's Red Barn in Mountain, Mo. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents and five siblings: Geraldine Nichols Langston, Maxine Nichols Phipps, Ralph Murphy, C.T. Murphy, and John D Murphy. She is survived by a sister, Barbara Estep of Ukiah, Calif.; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Murphy of California City, Calif.; sister-in-law, Marilyn Lasater of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Janice Lasater of Bella Vista; son, John (Sandy) Lasater of Pea Ridge; daughter, Donna Lasater of Bella Vista; granddaughter, Shannon (Nate) Chamberlain of Edmond, Okla.; granddaughter, Shawn Lasater of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandson by marriage, Patrick (Amy) Mitchell of Springfield, Mo.; and grandson by marriage Ryan (Krystle) Mitchell of Yukon, Okla.; five great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation with the family members will be a 1 p.m. Friday at Oakley Chapel United Methodist Church in Rogers. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. with Pastor Shane Pair officiating. Inurnment will take place later in the day in the Pea Ridge Cemetery.
