Buddy Joe Lovelady

Buddy Joe Lovelady, 82, Smithville, Ark. August 23, we had the opportunity to be with our father as he departed from this life to continue his journey. The son of William Bill and Juanita Mattox Lovelady, Joe was the sixth of seven children. Joe is survived by his children, Joel (Kim) of Jonesboro, Bill (Gail) of Seattle, and Jeanine (Brad) of Little Rock. He is also survived by a sister, Minnie Louise Sisco of Binghamton, N.Y. and a brother, Bobby Earl Lovelady of Walnut Ridge. He was very involved with his four grandchildren, Trisha (Thomas) Craig, Aaron (Jacey) Lovelady, Remy and Dylan Chilcote. He was proud to have six great-grandchildren, Shannon, Nichole, Lisa and Allen Craig, Carson and Addyson Lovelady. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Janice, his parents, and his siblings, Billy Ray Lovelady, Charles Mick Lovelady, Laveta Mae Whitmire, and Thelma Jean Donley. Joe served our country in both the Air Force and the Navy during the Korean conflict and received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct, China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Commendation for Service during atomic testing operations in the Pacific Ocean. He returned to Lawrence County to raise a family and to enjoy life doing things like camping and looking for arrowheads. The love he had for his family was evident to all, always caring more for others than for his own welfare. He taught us all the "Art of being Ornery". There will be no visitation, and the burial private, per Joe's request. Memorials may be made to Jan Lovelady's House of Quilting, a ministry of the Smithville Baptist Church, 8 Truman Street, Smithville, Ark. 72466.
