Jane Almeida Tucker

Jane Almeida Tucker of Conway, formerly of Little Rock, passed from this life August 25, 2017. Born in Lowell, Maine on June 14, 1940 to Joe and Rita Almeida. She spent her early years in Lowell surviving some tough times for the family eventually dropping out of high school to go to work in a textile factory. She met and married an Army man and soon found herself with three small children living in Ankara, Turkey at the age of 24. She told stories of having to buy drinking water from the street vendors there. After moving back to the states the family followed the Army from coast to coast. The early 70's found her a single mother struggling to raise us three kids. She held a variety of jobs including waitress, bartender, retail clerk, hairdresser, but the job that gave her the most fulfillment was as the clubhouse manager at Maumelle Country Club in the 80's and 90's where she made many friends both among her staff and the members of the club. She was proud that at the age of 62 she received her GED with honors. er final years she moved to Conway to be closer to family as she battled with COPD. Mother was raised in the Catholic Church where she was christened and confirmed at a young age. In her 60's she developed a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus and was baptized into the church. Therefore we take comfort in knowing that she is with her Heavenly Father free from pain and cares of this world. Mother was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Joey Almeida and the father of her children, Timothy Neas. Survived by her sisters, Rita Roper (Bob) and Flo Crowell (Dick) both of Hudson, N.H.; her children, Lisa McGee (Don) of Enola, James Neas (Lisa) of Conway and Tim Neas of Orange Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Amy Burton (Chris), Jessica Rutherford (Josh) and Kelsey McGee (Jarred) all of Conway, Brooke Neas of Orange Park, Fla. and Trey Tucker of Little Rock; great-grands, Bryce and Maliyah and many nieces, nephews and friends. Our family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Living Center, the CNAs from Arkansas Hospice and especially Chris Farr who provided loving care. As per Mothers request, her remains will be cremated and will have a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, August 31st Visitation will begin at noon. Service to follow at 2pm in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Funeral Home, Conway, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
