Carol Russell Tarwater

Carol Russell Tarwater former resident of Little Rock, Ark., passed away peacefully on July 1 in Livermore, Calif.; after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Carol was born in Kansas City, Mo., to Mary Ellen & Bob Russell on December 12, 1933. She graduated from William Woods and the University of Missouri, and married Ben Bob Tarwater in 1955. Carol is survived by her two children, Ellen Tarwater-Clower (Curtis) and Robert Russell (Rusty) Tarwater (Ann); and her four grandchildren, Brendan & Matthew Clower, and Drew & Annie Tarwater. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob. Carol enjoyed many years as a school teacher and small business owner. She was an active member of various churches, most recently, 2nd Presbyterian in Little Rock, and a 50 year member of the P.E.O. sisterhood. Carol enjoyed travelling with family and friends, gardening, reading and creating beautiful handcrafts. She loved any time spent with her grandchildren. Her last few years were spent in Livermore, Calif. near her daughter Ellen. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 at 2nd Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. (600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72227 (501) 227-0000). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to 2nd Presbyterian Church (600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72227 (501) 227-0000), Hope Hospice (hopehospice.com), or Alzheimer's Association.
