Barbara Rubin Schlesinger

Barbara Rubin Schlesinger of Hot Springs died on Dec. 2, 2017. She was born Aug. 2, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Schlesinger, and parents Lillian and Harry Rubin. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing or even having a chance meeting with Barbara knew she was one of a kind. Barbara never met a stranger and was an unmistakable site around Hot Springs with her "Barbie" license plate. Barbara lived life to the fullest and loved to play bridge, mahjong and golf. Perhaps her favorite place was Oaklawn Park, where she could be uncanny picking winners just with her lucky numbers. She also loved the slots at the casino. Survivors include her children, Mark Schlesinger, Scott Schlesinger (Kelli) and Debbie Schlesinger, all of Little Rock; brother, Gene Rubin of Atlanta, Ga. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Sofie Schlesinger, Maci Schlesinger and Jude Schlesinger. Barbara loved her best friends as if they were sisters; Bonnie McDonald, Betty Forshberg, Mary Beth Bridges, Martha Hudgens and Cynthia Rephan. She also adored everyone at her bridge club and her casino friends. A celebration of Barbara's joyful life will be held on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Hot Springs Country Club.
