Joan Crowson Burton, age 92, of Tull, died Dec. 2, 2017 at Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant. She was born March 24, 1925 to Charles Robert and Alma Smith Crowson in Tull, Ark., where she lived until moving to Mt. Carmel in 2015. Joan was a life long working member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was a member of Old Folks Singing Memorial Committee, the Tull Homemakers Club and DAR. Joan graduated from Bauxite High School in 1943. She became a war bride when she married J.T. Burton on Dec. 16, 1944. After becoming a widow, Joan traveled across the United States, played dominoes and bingo and spent time with her family. She loved to cook and have visits around her table. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Jean Carlisle, Roberta Davis, Carolyn Whitener and Dolphine Keenum. She is survived by her children, John Victor and wife, Barbara Burton, Russell and wife, Janie Burton, Karen and husband, Jeff Westbrook, all of Tull; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one brother, Paul and wife, Dodi Crowson of Glenwood, one aunt, Eunice Burrow of Tull and a host of family and friends. Church services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Tull with burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday at Ashbys, 6-8 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Mt. Carmel for their loving care and Saline Memorial Hospice for all their compassionate care of our mother.
