Charles Henry Pearson, age 78, of Russellville, died Sunday, December 3, 2017, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born December 10, 1938 in Perry, Arkansas to Jack and Leona Faye Goodnight Pearson. He attended Morrilton High School graduating in the class of 1957, furthered his education at Arkansas Tech University graduating in 1961, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and eventually studied at the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) graduating with his masters in mathematics in 1968. As a student, Charles was a member of the Blue Key, Math Club, was a "Dorm" Dad, and a ROTC Drill Team Commander. He was a United States Army Veteran totaling nine years, including the reserves. He worked as a math and science teacher at Morrilton High School and taught Math and Mechanical Drawing at Arkansas Tech from 1964-2001. While teaching he was a Blue Key Faculty Sponsor and Math Club Sponsor. Tech meant a lot to him! During his life he received many honors including, Blue Key/Outstanding Teacher in 1977, and Outstanding Teacher Award in 1998. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville. He had a love of music, he played in a band, loved Chet Atkins (who was his idol), played guitar (Chet Atkins style) and banjo. He and Margaret went on several special trips with the ATU Travel Group. Charles had a great love of his recliner and Serius/XM Radio (channel 69). He will be missed by his family so very much! He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Freeman Pearson; a daughter and son-in-law, the Drs. Anne and Jeff Snider of Russellville; a son and daughter-in-law, John Charles and Angie Pearson of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Katie and Emily Pearson of Fort Smith and Jack and Adam Snider of Russellville. The funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Greg Sykes and Dr. Stephen Davis officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4-6 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Doise Horn, Jeff Snider, Jack Snider, Rus Pearson, Chad Freeman and Jim Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Couser, Glyn Turnipseed, Bob Mullen, Jack Hamm, Bill Vaughn, and Bill Rothert.
