Violeta Nelly Aguilar passed away November 28, 2017 in Rogers, Arkansas. She was born June 16, 1931 in La Paz, Bolivia to Enrique Guzman and Nelida Agudo Guzman. Violeta was an exemplary wife, mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor, and friend. She was a master of culinary creativity, producing wonderful dishes for her food establishments in Houston, Texas. From 1969 to 1975, she and her husband, Emilio, owned and operated the Sam Houston Hotel Coffee Shop in downtown Houston. Later, the couple opened two delis and had a successful catering business. A great source of pride for her was perfecting her very popular Bolivian delicacy called a "saltena," a baked meat pie. She and her husband relocated to Rogers, Arkansas to retire and be closer to their children. While living in Rogers she impacted the community with her warmth and hospitality, making friends easily with local people. Strangers sat at her kitchen table and left as treasured friends. She was also a faithful prayer warrior for her family and friends. That is her legacy, a faithful generous heart who drew people to her regardless of background. She truly loved people. She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Nelida Guzman, her brothers, Gonzalo Guzman, Luis Guzman, and her sister, Alicia Plaza. Violeta is survived by her husband of 63 years, Emilio Aguilar: her children, Orlando Aguilar M.D. and wife, Laurie, Eduardo Aguilar and wife, Mary, and Carmen Matinchev M.D. and husband, Borian Matinchev M.D., as well as her eight grandchildren: Michael, Libby, Emily, Stephen, Luke, Rory, Cassie, and Laurel. She leaves behind her beloved dog, Goly. Ihere will be a Funeral Prayer Mass at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel in Rogers with Deacon Ronnie Hoyt officiating.
