Shirley Pickle, age 80, of Atkins, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Atkins to Roy and Grace (Martin) Jackson. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, she was most recently a member of the 5th and Greenwich Church of Christ in Russellville. She was a teacher in the Atkins school system for more than 30 years and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional society for women educators. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Frank Pickle. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Alice Canerday of Aiken, S.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Carolyn Jackson of Clovis, Calif.; and many other devoted relatives, friends and students. Burial will be private in Atkins City Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
