W.G. Roberts, of Little Rock, passed away at his home with his family by his side on December 10, 2017. He was born on March 23, 1935 in Bremen, Kentucky to Jesse E. Roberts and Grace Mae Neal. He was a devoted Christian and member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Little Rock, Arkansas. Gayle was a proud American and served his country in the Army with utmost pride. He was an amazing magician. It brought him so much joy to perform his tricks for family, friends and co-workers. He always found time to serve on the school board, baseball board and to coach little league throughout his life while being a dedicated and valued employee for AT&T for over 30 years, until his retirement. One of his true passions was baseball. He was an avid Cardinals fan and that passion began when Gayle was a pitcher in the minor leagues. Every winter for years, Gayle loved going to their home in Tucson, Arizona. He loved the weather, swimming and golfing. Gayle loved to sit in the recliner with his beloved little dog, Jinxy. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Florence Roberts; his son, Michael Steven Roberts of Rogers, Arkansas; daughter, Karen Roberts Boorboor; son-in-law, Fred Boorboor of New Orleans, Louisiana.; and cherished grandson, Matthew Sean Roberts of Bentonville, Arkansas. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501) 224-8300. Entombment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Visitation will be from 5-7: p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the funeral home.
