Nancy Thompson

Nancy Thompson, age 74, died on December 9th 2017, at Jamestown Nursing and Rehab Care Center in Rogers, Arkansas. Originally from Odessa, Texas, she was born on March 29th, 1943 to the parents of Clarence and Georgia Wicks. In April of 1985 Nancy married Lloyd Thompson. They enjoyed spending quiet evenings with each other (and their schnauzer, Razz) in their home until Lloyd's death in 2006. Upon graduating from Big Springs High School, she worked for Zale's in El Paso, Texas; where she developed a lifelong affinity for jewelry. Nancy also worked at Best Sports Inc. for many years. She spent most of her life cheering for the Hogs on Saturdays, as she was a longtime member of the Razorback Foundation. She was also known for the many years she spent officiating young women's softball games in Fayetteville. Above anything else Nancy was a Dallas Cowboys football fan and never missed a game, even in the last few weeks of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family whether it was just a short visit over Starbucks coffee or a trip to the Catfish Hole. Over the last year she learned to love bird and squirrel watching from her window. In addition to her late husband, her father and mother, Clarence and Georgia Wicks, preceded her in death. Her daughter, Teresa Black, son-in-law, Byron Black, and granddaughters Emily and Bailey Black, of Rogers, Arkansas survive her. She leaves behind one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bill Hansen of Rochester Hills, Michigan and their daughter, Lindy Hansen who resides in Nashville, Tennessee. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 15th at 2 p.m. at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, Arkansas. The family welcomes friends to attend this service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, or to Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Jamestown for taking such good care of our loved one; Nancy was grateful for the love and care she received.
