H. Gerald (Jerry) Hughes, my precious husband, passed away on December 12, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on January 20, 1940 to Hulon E. and Nellie D. Hughes in Stuttgart, Arkansas and grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He loved God and serving others. He was a great man of faith and served many years as a deacon at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ and on the board of Central Arkansas Christian Schools. He also proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After attending UALR, he founded and operated Hughes Building Specialties and Installers, Inc. He received his Architectural Hardware Consultant certification at a very young age. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Nina, by whom he is survived. They walked hand in hand for fifty-eight wonderful years. He is also survived by his son, Kevin Hughes (Kelley); his daughter, Lori Hughes; grandsons, Scott and Alex Hughes; two sisters, Pat Gire and Alice Perryman; nieces and nephews; and many friends. Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, 10900 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Arkansas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Brad Baltz and his wonderful staff for the many years of kind and compassionate care.
