Jimmie Melton Padgett, age 92, of Alexander, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017. He was born October 1, 1925 in Little Rock, Ark. Jimmie was a W.W. II Navy Veteran and a construction superintendent for Bracy Construction, Phillips Construction, and Leroy Hicks Construction. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Milton Padgett and Lona Edith Padgett; his first wife, Beatrice Padgett; sister, LaQuita Joy Padgett; and a grandson, Mark Bragg. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lu Padgett; two daughters, Joanie Ward (James) and Debra Adams (Randy Andrews); stepson, Scott Carpenter (Jane); stepdaughter, Jennifer Carpenter (Carol Morgan); brother, Bobby Joe Padgett (Patsy); five grandchildren, Sherri Ward, Don Bragg, Ken Hawkins, Wendy Webb and Chad Hawkins; nine great-grandchildren, Meagan, Lukas, Savana, Kylie, Kacie, Paige, Sawyer, Tristan and Zoey; two great-great-grandchildren, Rowan and Micah; three nieces, Laquita, Malita and Marty; and a special buddy, Charlie Wood. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 17 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 18 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Forest Hills Cemetery.
