Richard Scruggs

Richard Scruggs, 61, of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017. He was born in Pine Bluff, Aug. 11, 1956, to the late Grover Cleveland Scruggs Jr. and Wanda Lankford Scruggs. Richard was reared and educated in Watson Chapel before graduating from Jefferson Prep in 1974, followed by a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration & Marketing from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. A natural-born salesman, Rick followed in the family footsteps by working at Grover Scruggs & Sons Steele Pipe Company until its closing. Rick's interests included art, history, and the old television show "The Rifleman". In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, George Scott Scruggs and Grover Cleveland Scruggs III. Survivors include his nieces, Susannah Scruggs of Maumelle, Caitlan Scruggs of Manhattan, Kan.; nephews, Anthony Scruggs of Houston, Texas, Michael Scruggs of New Orleans, La.; great-niece, Haiden Scruggs of Manhattan, Kan.; great-nephew, Oliver Scruggs of Houston, Texas; and longtime companion, Karen Minor. Memorial Service will be 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Vincent Infirmary, especially the 7th floor oncology, ICU and ER units.
