Sherl "Red" Hendricks, 93, of Mountain Home, Ark., passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2017. He was born in Little Rock, Ark., to Jack and Elizabeth (Schmutzler) Hendricks. He married Betty Alexander on July 6, 1946, in Little Rock, Ark. Sherl was a decorated military veteran. He retired with over 39 years of military service. He was a flight engineer and gunner in The Pacific during WWII. He also served his country during the Korean War. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Sherl is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty, one son Don Hendricks of Mountain Home, four grandchildren: Josh (Avery) Hendricks, Ashley (John) Davis, Jason Harris, and Mandi (Chris) Wortenberger all of Benton, Ark., and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Bettye Russell of Mobile, Ala., and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Elizabeth, one son, Mike Hendricks, and daughter, Rita Harris. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at First Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Alexander, Ark., on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
