Mark Adrian Thompson, age 63, of Benton, unexpectedly went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2017. He was born April 16, 1954 in Longview, Texas. Mark was a graduate of the Architectural School at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He went on to earn his masters in engineering at the University of Colorado. His professional life was dedicated to design manager projects for the U.S. Corp of Engineers and Jacobs Engineering Firm, formerly Carter-Burgess. Mark was a wonderful architect and was currently project manager at Bureau of Engraving & Printing in Fort Worth leading a team of engineers and architects that handled structural, electrical & mechanical architectural processes. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Benton, Society of American Military Engineers, Arkansas State Board of Architects and the American Institute of Architects. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Thompson; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Olice McMaster & Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Thompson and the mother of their three sons, Joyce Thompson. Mark is survived by his wife, Laura A. Thompson of Benton; five sons, Michael Thompson (Cinnamon) of Frisco, Texas, Brian Thompson (Jessica) of Maumelle, Christopher Thompson of Little Rock, Ryan Redding of Benton and Zachary Redding (Marcelene) of Oxford, Mississippi; daughter, Rachel Dull (Brad) of Alexander; his mother, Marjorie McElhannon; brother, Paul Thompson; two sisters, Marsha Hedge and Claudette Smith (James "Smokey"); five grandchildren, Owen Sawyer, Eden Redding, Adley Dull, Layla Thompson and Collins Thompson and multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Celebration of Mark's life will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 22 at Ashby Funeral Home. Family Comments: Mark was kind-hearted and generous to a fault. He loved his Lord, his wife, his mother, his children, his step-children and all his family with his whole heart and soul. Mark will be greatly missed.
