Marlene Glass

Marlene Katherine Glass, formerly of Racine, Wis., passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at the age of 83. She was born on July 8, 1934, the daughter of George and Katherine (nee: Mand) Hansen. Marlene married Bernard J. Glass on Nov. 27, 1954, in Kenosha's St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1989. Marlene enjoyed a 37-year career as an executive secretary at Massey-Ferguson retiring in 1993. Marlene graduated from William Horlick High School class of '52 with honors. She enjoyed camping, belonging to the Racine Belle City Drifters and volunteering as their recording secretary, and the Wisconsin Campers Association. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Moose. She was known as Mrs. Bee to the Belle City Communicators CB Club and also did her part as the club's secretary. Line dancing was her forte with the Kenosha Kickers. They took part in the longest line dance in the world. She liked traveling with friends to faraway places and treasure hunting with Don at the many auctions they attended. She also belonged to the National Slovak Society and St. Lucy Catholic Church for a number of years. Marlene is survived by her daughters Theresa (Michael) Gemmel of Raymond, and Patricia Glass of Racine; grandchildren Elizabeth (Carey Wentworth) Gemmel, Katherine Gemmel, Christopher (Kate Brzenk) Pischke, and Jonathan Pischke; three great-grandchildren Hannah, Austin, and Nathan; sister Catherine (Jack) Morris; sisters-in-law Virginia (the late Bill) Ermert, Beatrice (the late Tom) Cronce; her significant other Donald Luedkte and his family, Don Jr., (Kathy), Scott (Debra), and Todd (Debra) Luedkte, Cheryl (Mike) Ryan, and Laura (Charles) Schlitz; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law and their husbands Constance and Peter Sahagian, and Elenor and Ed Mattson. The family would like to thank the House of Three in Rogers, Ark., and Marlene's caregivers Connie, Linda, Kim, and Nurse Melanie for taking such outstanding care of her; and the owners Shane and Jennifer for their continued support. It was definitely a God thing. The funeral mass for Marlene will be held in St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Ave., Racine, Wis., 53403) at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, with Rev. Javier Guativa officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery.
