Thomas Winfred Roark, 83, of Texarkana, Texas died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in Texarkana, Texas. He was born May 15, 1934 in Camden, Arkansas. He was a retired school teacher and a member of Cross View Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas; where Jimmy Shelby serves as pastor. He played football at Henderson State Teacher's College and later received his master's degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. While in college he was in ROTC and later served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Roark taught school for thirty years and was in the Navy reserves for thirty four years. In his spare time he was a farmer, rancher, hunter and an avid Arkansas Razorback fan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt Alvin Roark and Lennie Lillian McMurry Roark Tuberville; three brothers, Raymond Roark, Wendell Roark, Phil Roark; one sister, Betty Brown; and the mother of his children, Jimmie Sue Roark. He is survived by four daughters, Deborah Roark and husband Keith Lacie of Lockesburg, Cecilia Roark of Hampton, Cindy Roark Latting and husband Mark of Heber Springs, Windy Roark Larson and husband Dewey of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Bryant Bulice of Houston, Texas, Shelbi Ashby and husband Logan of North Little Rock, Chandler Riley and Chase Riley of Fayetteville, Kaia Larson of Prairie Grove; and one great grandchild, Raelynn Hutchinson of Prairie Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of America, Tulsa, Okla. Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce with Rev. Mike Nutt and Rev. Keith Nutt officiating.
