Marice Larry Colpitts

Maurice Larry Colpitts, 78, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. The son of Maurice and Dorothy Pauline (Oldham) Colpitts, he was born May 29, 1938 in Tulsa, Okla. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma State. He was a technical engineer/executive research assistant to the Dean of Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas. Maurice was an Elder and Stephens Minister for the First United Methodist Church in Springdale and an Elder of the Presbyterian Church in Morrilton. Maurice had a fascination with historical trades and enjoyed wood carving, leather working and black powder shooting. He married Nita Clark Herrick on June 2nd, 2013 at Morrilton and they shared his last years together. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Maurice Lee Colpitts; and brother, Andre' Blythe Colpitts. Survivors include his wife, Nita Marie (Clark) Herrick Colpitts of Russellville; brother, Joel Thomas Colpitts and wife Becky of Claremore, Okla.; and step-daughter, Alisa Herrick Johnson and husband Charles of Tulsa, Okla. Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Morrilton. Rev Steven Frazier will officiate.
