Franklin Doyle Stewart, Sr., 80, was welcomed at the gates of heaven on February, 7, 2017, after a valiant battle with illness. His devotion to his wife and children and his love for his Lord Jesus Christ supported him throughout his life and his final days, as he continued praying and singing songs of praise while in the hospital. Frank was born to the late Elmer Fillmore Stewart and Martha Tirpitz Stewart Bailey in Camden, Arkansas, on January 28, 1937. He began preaching when he was 14 years old and became a licensed minister, pastoring churches in South Carolina and Arkansas. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer 1st Class. Frank married his high-school sweetheart, Doris Jean Crawford, on September 7, 1958, and he was a faithful, loving husband for 58 years. His children remember him as a kind, gentle man with a love for his Lord Jesus Christ, a passion for the gospel, and a deep love and pride in each of their accomplishments. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Frank was a member of Christian Life Church in Maumelle, Arkansas. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones. Frank is survived by his wife, Doris; his children and their families, Derenda and Mick McCook, Lynne and Titus Lindsay, Frank and Shari Stewart, and Elizabeth and Ron Myers; his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald and John August; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Gracie, four brothers, and his parents. Frank's funeral is scheduled for Monday, February 13, 2017, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas. Visitation begins at 12 (noon), and the service begins at 1 p.m. His pastor, the Rev. Don Richardson, will officiate the service. The interment, with full military honors, will be held at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday February 16th. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Frank's life. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Conway Regional Medical Center for their efforts and dedication.
