Shirley Edell Walker

Shirley Edell Walker, 76, of Springdale, went to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven on February 12, 2017. She was welcomed at the gates by her husband Charles Walker, son; Charles Walker, Jr., sister; Darlene, brother; Clinton and her parents. She was born March 3, 1940 in Elgin, North Dakota, the daughter of Hugh and Elsie Dacthler Carter. She was a second generation immigrant from a family who had escaped Nazi Germany prior to WWII. She was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lowell. The Walker family has resided in Springdale since Charles retired from his decorated service as a Sergeant in the Army. She had a passion for her faith, her family, good food and of course her dogs. She lived a selfless life, always giving and always forgiving. Her zest for life and witty comments will be deeply missed by those closest to her. Psalms 23 and the Lord's Prayer gave her the most comfort. May The Word give peace to the mourners as well. She is survived by her children; Jimmy, Carolyne, Kevin and David. Siblings; Gene, Jim, Cheryl and Artie; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Avenue Springdale, Arkansas 72762. The family will hold a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church in Lowell with Reverend Charles Huebner officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. The family will gather at the Western Hills Baptist Church in Fayetteville following the service. Online condolences may be made to www.memorialfhspringdale.com.
