Barbara Ann Grimes Goswick, 64, of Mayflower died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, from a lengthy cancer illness. She was born Dec. 11, 1952, to Shelby G. (Jack) Grimes and the late Ruby Farmer Grimes. She is also preceded in death by an older sister, Jacqueline Bea Grimes. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, John L. Goswick, daughter, Jennifer Alexander and husband Tim of Ft. Knox, Kentucky; son, Matt Goswick and wife Gina of San Jose, Calif.; grandchildren, Sadie Alexander, Madelyn Alexander, Layla Alexander, Sebastian Alexander, and Benjamin Alexander; brother, Glenn Grimes of Little Rock, and a host of other family and friends. Mrs. Goswick was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Church at Willow Beach in North Little Rock. She was always active in church, serving as pianist/keyboardist since she was 12 years old. She also accompanied school and college choirs. She obtained her Associate of Arts degree from Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas; a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama; and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama. Mrs. Goswick was a Certified Public Accountant, and her career in higher education spanned more than 35 years. She was employed by the University of Arkansas System and served as its Vice President for Finance & CFO since 2008. The SACUBO (Southern Association of College and University Business Officers) honored Mrs. Goswick as the 2011 Distinguished Business officer of the Year. In 2014, she received the CPA Lifetime Achievement Award from Arkansas Business. A celebration of her life will be held at the Church at Willow Beach on Tuesday Feb. 28, 2017, at 11am. There will be no visitation service the night before, but family and friends are encouraged to stay after the celebration service to view the body and visit with the family. A private burial service will be held for her family afterwards at Crestlawn Cemetery in Conway. Her pastor, Roy Tilley, will lead the "Celebrate My Life" service. Pallbearers will be Sonny Harvison, Mike McCormac, Troy Rice, John Santoro, Fred Wiedower and Steve Wood.
