Charles "Charlie" Wesley Smith Jr., age 74, of Clinton, Arkansas, joined the Lord and his parents on Monday, January 9, 2017. He was born September 5, 1942 in Morrilton, Arkansas. The son of Charles Wesley Smith Sr. of Culpepper and Essie Mildred (Hall) Smith of Scotland. He was also a member of Culpepper Methodist Church. He was a longtime member of the Jaycees in Clinton and Batesville, Arkansas. He was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose (Lodge # 1839) since 1978. He received the highest honor that a man can receive in the Loyal Order of Moose by achieving "The Pilgrim Degree of Merit." He served as past Governor and Administrator of the Batesville Moose Lodge and sponsored the most members of any member living into the entire Moose fraternity. He held several state chairmanships and served on numerous committees throughout his lifetime. Prior to returning to farming, he held several jobs including: construction on Greers Ferry Dam in Heber Springs; construction of the Titan II Missle Base in Damascus; a Pattern Technician at Clinton and Batesville garment factories. He enjoyed watching the Arkansas Razorbacks, Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR racing and was a lifelong Mark Martin fan. He enjoyed visiting Hot Springs to watch the horse races at Oaklawn. His true passion in life was working on his farm caring for his herd of cattle and fishing in his ponds. He is survived by his former wife, Laura Jean (Farley) Smith and their three daughters, Charla and Kasey Frain of Flagstaff, Arizona; Deedra Smith and Missy Sims of Conway, Arkansas; and Tamara Smith and Rob Brinson of Huntsville, Alabama. He loved his three daughters and his grandchildren; Sarah, Emma, and Hannah Frain, and Rhett Brinson. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
