Martha L. Brooks, devoted wife, mother, sister, and Grandma, passed away at home on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017. Martha was born Sept. 15, 1943, in Rogers, Arkansas, to Don W. Stilwell and Ita (Neely) Stilwell. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Rogers and graduated from high school there. Martha married Rhad Brooks on Nov. 30, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Rogers. Together, they had a daughter, Elaine (Brooks) Hibdon, and a son, Steve Brooks. The family lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they had settled after Rhad's overseas military service. During their 40 years there, Martha worked as an administrative assistant for Oklahoma Natural Gas. After retirement, Rhad and Martha moved to Mustang, Oklahoma, to be closer to their son and grandchildren. There, they both became involved in Chisholm Heights Baptist Church; Rhad sang in the choir, and Martha taught in the Awanas program and Vacation Bible School. She dedicated her service to teaching children about the love of God; her grandchildren were the joy of her life. Martha is survived by her son, Steve, and his wife, Stephanie (Buchanan) Brooks and their children Kaylyn, Kaleb, and Sage; grandson, Scott Hibdon and Scott's son, Anthony; granddaughter, Jordan (Hibdon) Carlton and her husband, Kevin Carlton, and their daughter Charlotte. She is also survived by one sister, Donna Robinson. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, at McNeil's Funeral Home in Mustang, with her memorial service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church. Burial will be at Benton County Memorial Gardens in Rogers, Arkansas, on Thursday, Jan. 19. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Children's Ministry at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church, 2243 W. State Highway 152, Mustang, Oklahoma, 73064.
