William A. McVay, 94, passed away on January 18, 2017 at his home in Bentonville. He was born on August 1, 1922 in Biscoe, Arkansas to the late Joseph William Walter and Nancy Anna (Horton) McVay. He was a WWll Veteran serving overseas. He was a longtime member of the Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing with his friends Adrian, Carl and preacher Ernie. He was a lover of sports and especially baseball, which he coached for over 22 years. He was part of the Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion leagues. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle McVay; son, Jim McVay; two brothers, Willard and Ed; two sisters, Faye Dancer and Zillie Mae; and a granddaughter, Stefanie Rose-Tucker. William is survived by his son, Gary McVay of Bentonville; daughter, D-Ann Rose and husband, Steve of Bentonville; daughter-in-law, Reba McVay of Centerton; brother, Joe McVay of Illinois; sisters, Wanda Finley of Nevada, Edna Yingst of Bentonville, Ruth McNelly of Arizona, and Mary Cody of Arizona; five grandsons, Daniel, David, Welden, John McVay and Samuel Rose; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, January 23, 2017 from 5 until 7 p.m. in Callison-Lough Funeral Home, Bentonville. Please use 2nd street to enter parking lot. Burial will be private.
