Paul Nolan Morgan

Dr. Paul Nolan Morgan was born the third son of John Sylvester and Elizabeth Gist Morgan on January 15, 1927 in Konawa, Oklahoma. He is predeceased by his parents; son, Paul Kem Morgan; and two elder brothers, Carl and Douglas Morgan. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bobby Bingham Morgan; two children, Jay William and wife, LeeAnne and Kay Elizabeth Steiger and husband, Mike; daughter-in-law, Elena; and five grandchildren: Joey and Josh Steiger, Hannah and Emily Morgan, and Ericka Mendoza Morgan. Dr. Morgan attended Konawa High School, graduating from high school after entering the Navy where he trained and served as a medical corpsman on a seaplane tender until the end of WWII after which they saw duty around the world. After discharge from the navy, he attended college at East Central in Ada, Oklahoma, the University of Oklahoma and University of Arkansas, graduating with a B.S. in Medical Technology. Paul was employed in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science. He married Bobby Bingham in 1952 and obtained an M.S. in Microbiology from UAMS in 1956. He later was granted a PhD in Medical Microbiology from University of Oklahoma Medical Sciences. Dr. Morgan returned to Little Rock and was employed by the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock. He was also a Professor on the faculty of Department of Microbiology and Immunology at UAMS. He taught medical students and mentored and advised MS and PhD candidates during his career. He was past-president of the Sigma Xi biological society at UAMS. His research and publications included in vitro studies and characterization of biologic activity of the brown recluse spider, Loxosceles reclusa.
