Beverly J. Susong, 83, of Fayetteville passed away peacefully on Sunday July 9, 2017 at her home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Mrs. Susong was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma on June 30, 1934 to Lawrence and Juanita Wise. She grew up and went to school in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She graduated from Blackwell High School in 1952, shortly after graduation she moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she worked as a secretary for Cities Service Oil Company. In the fall of 1952 she met Robert C. Susong. They were married on September 3, 1953 and she moved with her husband to Hampton, Virginia where he was stationed in the United States Army. While there she worked in in the US Navy Shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia. She watched the launching of the aircraft carrier USS Forrestall, the Navy's first super carrier. When Mr. Susong was discharged in April 1955, the couple moved back to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she worked as a homemaker and raised their two children. In 1973 they moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where she worked in the Home Economics Department for Oklahoma State University. In 1978 they moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas and she was employed by the University of Arkansas as an Administrative Assistant in the Special Events Department until her retirement in 1990. The Susong's had two children, Gregory C. Susong, who passed away in October 2009 and Kathy D. Ferguson, who still lives in Fayetteville and owns and operates the family business, MailCo USA, Inc. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Juanita Wise, and her son, Gregory C. Susong. Survivors include her husband Robert C. Susong of the home, her daughter Kathy Ferguson of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Sarah Bailey and husband Justin of Fayetteville, Ross Ferguson and wife Guada of Fayetteville, Lauren Fontarum and husband Arvin of Wichita, Kansas, and Robert D. Susong of Wichita, Kansas; four great-granddaughters, Addison, Allison and Anniston Bailey, and Aveline Fontarum; one great-grandson, Solomon Ferguson; several cousins; nieces and nephews; and many good friends. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Moore's Chapel Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Private interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
