VELMA JOHNSON, 95 of North Little Rock, Ark., passed away peacefully at her home July 5,2017. She was born Sept. 9, 1921 in Menifee, Ark., to the late Simien & Fannie Brown. Velma was a successful business owner operating as a licensed cosmetologist for over 50 years. She married the late Ernest Johnson, and remained happily married for over 60 years until the time of his passing. Velma was a faithful member of Full Counsel Metro Church in North Little Rock under the leadership of Bishop Silas Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simien and Fannie Brown; husband, Ernest Johnson; two daughters, Minnie Martindale-Noel and Carolyn Tate; five brothers, Semien, Alfred, James, Charles, and Cleveland Brown; three sisters, Helen Mitchell, Hazel and Dorothy Brown. Velma leaves to cherish her many fond memories to three sons: Taalib-Din (Phyllis) Aquil, Bishop Silas (Jennifer) Johnson, both of Little Rock, Ark., Anthony (Lois) Johnson, of Sherwood, Ark.; three Daughters; Jean Harrell of San Francisco, Calif., Ernestine(Robert)Thomas of Stuttgart, Ark., Veronica Ayers of Jacksonville, Ark. 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great- great-grandchildren, cousins, neighbors and friends. Visitation: Thursday, 12 noon-6 p.m. at Robinson Mortuary North Little Rock. The Home-going Celebration: Friday, 10 a.m. at Full Counsel Metro Church, 1700 Maple St., North Little Rock, Ark. 72114.
