Nita Mae Lancaster Webb, age 87, of Sheridan, Arkansas was born August 26, 1929 and died July 12, 2017 in her home. She was the daughter of Joe and Pauline Lancaster and the wife of Lee Webb who preceded her in death in 1986. Nita graduated at age sixteen from Sheridan High School in 1946 and worked as a teenager at Hendon's Five and Dime and in the Sheridan School superintendent's office before becoming a proof reader and writer for the SHERIDAN HEADLIGHT. She then worked for the United States Post Office and retired in 1981 as Superintendent of Postal Operations in Sheridan. Nita was a lifelong member of the Sheridan First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. A self-taught musician, she played the piano and organ for church services from the age of nine until her death. Nita was an award winning writer and continued to contribute frequently to the GRASSROOTS publication at the Grant County Museum. She was a talented cook and enjoyed making homemade cakes, biscuits, jelly, and dressing. Love of home, family and children were her life's joy. The day of her accident was spent continuing the research of the Lancaster/Speck family tree. She is survived by a son, Tom Webb, daughter Diana Barnes (John), daughter, Karen Goins (J.K., Jr.), brothers, James Lancaster (Betty), Bob Lancaster (Martha), and Billy Van Lancaster (Scarlet), brother-in-law, Joe Fowlkes, grandsons, Mike Paul (Connie), Nicholas Paul (Keri), Jase Goins (Melissa), Chris Goins (Lauren) and numerous great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Joe and Pauline Lancaster, husband, Lee Webb, brother, Harold Lancaster, sisters, Betty Jo Fowlkes and Joy Greer Roberts, and grandchildren, Mary Webb and Benjamin Webb. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Grove Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be Friday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mike Paul, Nick Paul, Jase Goins, Chris Goins, Eric Lancaster, Scott Lancaster and Patrick Smith.
