Joel Ogden Mayhugh Jr., 75, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away July 10, 2017. He was born November 9, 1941 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late J.O. and Jessie Olin Hall Mayhugh. Ogden was a member of Parkhill Baptist Church. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science at University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Ogden proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a Senior Financial Executive with Merrill Lynch for 35 years, and served as the assistant Vice-President at Lake Hamilton. Ogden served on many committees and commissions including the Arkansas Highway Commission, North Little Rock Port Authority, president of the Arkansas American Diabetes Association of Little Rock in 1980, Board of Directors of the YMCA, member of the North Little Rock Kiwanis Club, member of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce and served on its Board of Directors, and many more organizations. Ogden earned many awards for his service and work ethics including Outstanding Stock Broker in the US Money Magazine in 1987, and Outstanding Kiwanian of the Year in 1976. During his spare time, Ogden enjoyed golfing, fishing, and duck hunting. He was a member of the North Hills Country Club, State Gold Association, Arkansas Fly Fishing Association, Arkansas Wild Life Association, and Ducks Unlimited. He was truly a man who contributed to his family, his colleagues, his customers, his community, his state, and his country. Ogden leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 51 years, Caroline E. Mayhugh of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughter, Katherine Ellison and husband John of Benton, Arkansas; his buddies at Hawgs; and many family members and friends who love Joel and will miss him always. Reception visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, Arkansas.
