Joy Evelyn Hendrich

Joy Bane Hendrich went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2017. She was born in Athol, Kan., to Arther and Hazel Bane on May 2, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Winslow Hendrich, two daughters, Ruth Ann Hendrich and Marilyn Hendrich Fosha, a granddaughter, Charity Joy Engdahl, three brothers, Marvin, Douglas, and Maynord Bane and one sister, Sharon Hodge. She is survived by four children, Evelyn (Earl) Vance of Naylor, Ark., Steven Hendrich and Gloria (Jim) Lercher of Little Rock, AR, and David Hendrich of Vilonia, Ark., and five grandchildren, Jeremy Engdahl of Greenbrier, Ark., Sarah (Marty) Sanders of Mount Vernon, Ark., Dr. Matthew (Lindsey) Hendrich of Jonesboro, Ark., Mary Joy (Brandon) Bush of Redwater, Texas, and Hannah Hendrich of Little Rock, Ark. Also surviving Joy is one sister, Norma Windscheffel of San Diego, Calif., and ten "Great-Grandies". Joy exemplified her name: J for Jesus first, O for others second and Y for yourself last. Her passion was telling others about Christ. During the late 1950's and early 1960's Joy had a Children's bible story program on KCON in Conway, Ark. She presented weekly Bible lessons at various Faulkner County schools and along with her husband, conducted Sunday morning services at the Arkansas Children's Human Development Center in Conway, Ark. In 1962, Joy and Winslow became the Arkansas State Directors for Child Evangelism Fellowship, a position they held for 30 years. During that time they shared the Gospel with countless numbers of children and adults at many County Fairs and the Arkansas State Fair. They also conducted Teacher Training classes to help other teachers learn how to share the Gospel. After retiring from CEF, they moved to Vilonia, Ark., where they immediately became involved with Children's Church at Vilonia First Baptist. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Ark.
