Betty Jo Wallace

Betty Jo (Henry) Wallace was born in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, to Garland C. and Murriel June Cantebury Henry. She attended school in West Monroe where she graduated at West Monroe High School. Betty was a resident of North Little Rock, Ark. during her single years. She worked as a manager for Frankies Restaurant in Little Rock during the 1960s. She also worked for the Jacksonville Credit Bureau in Jacksonville, Ark. for many years. During most of her married years she was the office manager of the Fidelity Union Life Insurance Agency in Arkadelphia, Ark. where her husband Doyle was the Regional Agent. Betty was an active member of the Bald Knob Country Club where she served as co-organizer of the annual H.L. Lubker Memorial Golf Tournament. She also served on the board of the L.J. Steward Addition cemetery committee. Betty was also a long-standing member of the Bald Knob Garden Club. While Doyle was city mayor and councilman in Bald Knob, Betty was active in committees, projects, and affairs. Betty is survived by her husband, Doyle H. Wallace, step-daughters, Terri Wallace Miller (Paul) of Bald Knob and Kim Wallace (Kellie) of Sarasota, Fla., and step-son, Michael W. Wallace of Little Rock. She is also survived by one brother, George R. Henry (Ruby) of Jena, La.; two nieces, Kathy Rice (Jim) of Benton, Ark. and Cecilia Pierson (Tom) of Lafayette, IN and nephews, Gordon Hamblin of Pangburn, Ark., George Larry Henry, Clifton Henry, Bruce Henry of Jena, La., Jack Henry and Brian Henry of Texas, Matthew Henry of Little Rock and Robert Schilling of Lafayette, Ind. Her surviving family also includes four step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and step-father, John H. Mayes; two sisters, Grace Schilling, Mildred Brewer and one brother, James H. "Jack" Henry. She is also preceded in death by her step-daughter, Lisa Kay Wallace Seufer. Visitation will Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob.
