Harold Dean Luneau, 80, of Little Rock, died July 17, 2017. Born in Warren, Arkansas on August 31, 1936 to Guy and Edna Rabalais Luneau, Harold became a Catholic priest upon graduating from St. John's Seminary in Little Rock in the late 1950s. He served the Diocese of Little Rock in parishes from Pine Bluff to Fayetteville in his career as a priest. Harold was a part of the mass exodus of priests who left the priesthood in the late 1960s after Vatican II. He then went to UCA and earned a Master's Degree in Counseling. He became a counselor at UALR and worked his way up until he became an administrator who was known for developing innovative programs such as off-campus credit and non-credit courses. In 1981, he met and married Teresa Irwin of Little Rock. They became the parents of one son, Patrick Dean Luneau, in 1986. After Harold retired from UALR, he and a friend, Frank Kenney, wrote a book, Soul Survivors, about the trials and tribulations of being a priest in the 60s. It was published and is still available for sale today. Harold led a varied and interesting life and especially loved to travel. Another special interest was camping at Greer's Ferry Lake with his son, Patrick. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Irwin Luneau; son, Patrick Luneau and wife, Jeanice, and grandsons, Parker and Hunter Luneau, all of Conway; sister, Rose Luneau Stuart of Little Rock; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Guy Luneau, Jr. and Marion Luneau. Services will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, Ark. 72202. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200. Harold's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
