JAMES EDWARD ECHOLS, 85, of Mabelvale, passed away July 18, 2017. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired as a newspaper pressman at the Arkansas Gazette after 30 years of service. He then joined the family business, Lawn Mowers Plus. He served as a deacon at Chicot Road Baptist Church and was a member of the Gideons. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma Lawler Echols, his wife, Lola Mae Echols, and two brothers, Harold Dean Echols and Billy Martin Echols. He is survived by his sons, Jeffery Alan Echols (Stephanie), James Richard Echols (Cindy), both of Mabelvale, and Ricky Lee Echols of the Fairplay Community; brother, Ronnie Lee Echols; grandchildren, Melissa Marie Reid, Vickie Lynn Echols, James Edward Echols, Ethan Grayson Echols, Anna Grace Echols, Victoria Alexis Thompson, Alexander Shell Thompson, Aiden Scott Thompson and Ashton Dale Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Maitlyn Marie Jones, Jacelyn Anne Jones and Trei Jackson Jones. Services will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 27th at Chicot Road Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the church at 13301 Chicot Road, Mabelvale, Ark. 72103.
